Race Night - Friday 17th October

Get your glad rags on and join us for one of the season’s most fun new social events — Race Night at the clubhouse on Friday 17th October. Doors open at 6:00pm and the first race gets under way at 7:00pm. It’s a relaxed, lively evening of food, friendly rivalry and a few (very entertaining) attempts at expert tipping.

What to expect

Expect great company, plenty of laughs and a proper race-night atmosphere — tote, tips, race-calling banter and the chance to win a few quid. Supper is included in your ticket, and there’ll be a full bar open throughout the evening.

How you can get involved

There are lots of ways to join the fun:

Buy a horse beforehand for £5 and give it a name — if your horse wins that race, you win the prize pot (around £20).

Buy a jockey for £5 and cheer them on — jockey wins pay out just the same.

On the night: the Tote will be open for in-person bets — £2 per bet, winners take the payout 50% of the prize pot between them. Expect light-hearted commentary and tipping from our very own in-house “experts” (John McCrirrick-style antics encouraged!).

Tickets & booking

Tickets are just £10 each (entry + supper). They’re selling fast — only a few left — so don’t wait if you want to come. To book, see Annette or Steve Johnson, or pop in and ask at the bar next time you’re at the clubhouse.

Why come?

It’s the perfect night out for members and guests: great value, great company, and an easygoing atmosphere where everyone gets involved. Whether you’re coming for the racing, the food, or just a fun social evening, Race Night is one of those nights that’s best enjoyed with friends — and a smile.

We can’t wait to see you there — get your ticket, pick a horse (or a jockey), and get ready for a cracking night!

Ladies - Get into Golf - Skills Development

Our Ladies Get into Golf Development Programme offers a welcoming and structured introduction to the game in a supportive environment. Participants are guided by our friendly member “Buddies”, or our Community Golf Instructor for on-course sessions as well as full access to the driving range and putting green at any time.

Clubs are available on free loan, ensuring there are no barriers to getting started. Each session is designed to develop core skills — including putting, pitching, and iron play — through a combination of focused practice and enjoyable on-course games. We have our own programme that guides you from beginner to handicap player (or social golfer!).

Sessions conclude with a relaxed social element, over coffee or tea and biscuits and even occasionally some prize-giving!

The Get into Golf Group also have group lessons with our fabulous Professional coach, Heather Smith. These tend to be monthly and between sessions you have chance to practice what you learn with the Buddies.
